The Importance of a Patch Test

So more and more people are asking me whether they need a Patch Test for Eyelash Extensions, Lash Lifts and Lash/Brow Tinting and the short answer is always going to be YES!

Yes that is if you are a new client or have not have your chosen treatment in the last 6 months as unfortunately sensitivities and allergies can pop up at any point in our lives.

Never forget, a Patch Test is there to PROTECT YOU!

I use a small amount of the products used during your chosen treatment, it being Eyelash Extensions, Lash Lift or Tinting of the Brows or Lashes. If you develop a positive reaction to a Patch Test where a small amount of product is used, then you would have had an even more severe reaction during the actual treatment where a much larger amount of product is used.

Symptoms of a positive reaction to a Patch Test - which is performed minimum 24-48 hours before the treatment - include swelling, redness, itchiness, rash and anything else out of the ordinary.

Imagine being allergic to one of the products, not having had a Patch Test and going straight in for your chosen treatment. Let me tell you, it will NOT look pretty! Bear in mind that the eye area is a very sensitive area anyway, so the littlest bit of swelling is going to be ever so unsightly nevermind it being so sore!

I ensure to Patch Test every single one of my clients as to me it is a bit of a no brainer. From both a Professional & Ethical point of view: If I can prevent a reaction from happening I will!

As a little end note I just wanted to mention that a Patch Test does not rule out any allergic reactions. You may be absolutely fine after exposure to a small amount of product and still have a reaction when a larger amount is used. Nothing is set in stone - but what it does do is give a very good indication whether you may be allergic or not.

Would you have any further questions with regards to Patch Tests or anything else then just get in touch.

Lots of Lashes,

Kris
